Ariza recently participated in former Lakers coach Byron Scott's podcast Byron Scott 's Fast Break, during which he talked about McGrady saying that he could win the championship by replacing Kobe and teaming up with Shark.
Ariza: Kobe and Tracy McGrady are completely different players (both of them were once teammates), I can't say that. Tracy McGrady is extremely talented, but Kobe can bring more different things to the table.
Scott: Kobe is better defensively!
Ariza: But McGrady still scored 40 points. Of course, McGrady couldn't guard Kobe. The two basically exploded at each other!
