L'Equipe reported that the Brest stadium project encountered obstacles, and the club and the government were firmly advancing.

Brest Football Club responded on Wednesday after the Rennes administrative court suspended a decree allowing the construction of a new stadium, saying it remains committed to building the Achaia Park. The project is also supported by the provincial government of Finistere.

The Brest club was undeterred. After the Administrative Court of Rennes on Tuesday suspended a decree allowing the construction of a new stadium, the club and the project promoters issued a joint statement on Wednesday: "The court's ruling does not question the quality of the project, nor the measures taken to reduce the environmental impact."

The Metropolitan Region of Brest, the Municipality of Gipavas and the project promoters reiterated their commitment to the Achaia Park project. In a statement, club president Denis Le Saint said: "The court's decision does not question the quality of the project, but requires us to provide more detailed information. We accept this decision and are determined to jointly advance this project that will benefit the development of the region. The country, Brittany, Finistère, Bray The Metropolitan Region of Brest and the Municipality of Gipavas unanimously emphasized that the Akaia Park project has significant public benefits.

Akaia Park is vital to supporting the development of Brest Football Club, the only top-level football club in the province, and helping to increase the influence and attractiveness of the region. The signatories noted that expanding the existing Francis-LeBlay Stadium was not possible due to land constraints without demolishing nearby residential buildings and part of the school.

"The project's timetable has not been affected and the approval of the building permit is still in progress." The provincial government of Finistere said in a joint statement with the Brest Metropolitan Region and the city of Gipavas.

Earlier in the day, the Province of Finistere also reiterated its full support for the construction of the new stadium: "The provincial government, the regions, the provincial councils, the metropolitan area and all the politically diverse communities of North Finistere consider the project to be of great public interest and exemplary in terms of environmental protection."

The administrative court suspension order was proposed by three environmental protection associations. In his ruling, the judge held that "there was no compelling reason to demonstrate that the project was in the vital public interest."

According to the law, only if this condition is met can the ban on destroying protected species be exempted. The new stadium, which is expected to cost 106.5 million euros and can accommodate 15,000 spectators, was originally planned to be built on 17 hectares of agricultural land on the outskirts of Brest by 2028.
