Inter Milan legend star and soul of the Great International era Sandro Mazola was interviewed by La Verità today, and he talked about the San Siro/Meazza Stadium destined to be demolished. He will turn 83 on the 8th of next month.
"Can you keep this stadium? I don't know, it's hard to say, it requires going deep into this process. But what will be remembered is that Inter Milan and Milan have won honors in this stadium. At least it can be kept in our memory, which is very important. I think it is correct to keep a part of the stadium, and you should leave some traces to commemorate it."
You have played, scored goals, and won trophys in this stadium. Do you still remember those years?
"I remember it all, especially at the beginning. It was a wonderful feeling: when you walk into that stadium, you feel like you are coming to the end of the world, a wonderful feeling."
What about those opponents? How will Meacha Stadium bring them?
"They are so scared (smiling)." What is the reason? The atmosphere of the court? The fans' voices? Or stands?
"None are not, because they will see the blue and black robe. They know who they are facing, which makes them feel uncomfortable and very scared."
If there is a new stadium now, will this Meacha effect continue to exist in the new stadium?
"I really hope to continue. It is not certain until we see it built. But I think it will be like this. The Meacha Stadium has written the history of football, and this history must continue in the new Stadium."
That wishes Inter and Milan will win honors in the same stadium for at least 100 years.
"I definitely hope Inter Milan is like this, I don't know who the other team is..."
