On Monday local time, Ligue 1 Rennes Club officially announced the signing of 30-year-old midfielder Valentine Longguier from Marseille.

Rennes officially announced that the club has signed Longjiye, who has 271 Ligue 1 games from Marseille, and he will become an important reinforcement for the team's midfield. The two sides signed a contract until the summer of 2028.

Longiye was born in Nantes youth training. He made his professional team debut and Ligue 1 debut there in 2014, and then he grew into the team's main force and captain. In 2019, he transferred to Marseille and played for this summer.

Rennes CEO Arnold Puy said to the signing: "Valentin is an important reinforcement for the club. There is no need to introduce the player too much, because over the past decade, he has proven himself a leader in the Ligue 1. We are glad that he has joined us and can't wait to see him show his strength in the Rennes jersey."

Club Sports Director Loyke Desiré said: "Valentin is perfectly in line with the type of midfielder we are looking for, he meets all our standards. Opportunities have emerged, and we have seized it. He is an important reinforcement for the team, a true leader who will be able to adapt to the style of play advocated by Habib Beyer and his coaching staff. His experience and personality will be a valuable asset to help our young players."
