Recently, the Sun has included the 20 dream stadiums in the hearts of football fans around the world. Barcelona's Camp Nou Stadium beat Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium to the top.
Barcelona's Camp Nou Stadium has become the most wanted stadium in the hearts of fans, surpassing its rival Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium. A survey of 2,000 football enthusiasts shows that the Camp Nou, with about 99,000 seats, is the most sought-after venue outside the UK, while the Bernabeu ranks second.
Italy's San Siro Stadium ranked third, with the Milan two-man defeating rival Juventus, whose stadium with more than 41,000 seats ranked only 16th. The survey also shows that 35% of football fans have a list of stadiums they dream of visiting, and 18% of them even listed as many as five stadiums.
In the UK, Liverpool's Anfield Stadium ranks fourth, the highest of all England stadiums. In addition to Liverpool's home court, domestic stadiums that fans also want to visit include Wembley Stadium in sixth place, Manchester United's Old Trafford Stadium in seventh place, and Manchester City's Etihad Stadium in ninth place, and Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in tenth place.
Maracana Stadium is both home of Flamenco and Fruminense, and a national landmark of Brazil, ranking 12th, while Boca Youth’s iconic home court Candy Box Stadium ranked 20th.
When asked about the most important factors in creating the world's best football stadium, good vision (52%) and comfortable seats (50%) ranked first, with another 46% saying the audience atmosphere was the most important.
Anfield Stadium tops the list when fans are asked to rank the stadium purely based on the atmosphere of the match day, followed by Camp Nou and Bernabeu. Half of the respondents attributed the atmosphere of these stadiums to the enthusiasm of home fans, while others mentioned football quality (47%) and close-to-full audiences (45%) as key factors.
