Stein added: "Source revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers are indeed willing to upgrade to the wing position and want to get a wing player who has both offense and defense and can increase the team's ceiling. If the Miami Heat decides to prioritize financial flexibility and seeks to cut salary expenditures in the next few weeks or months, the Lakers may be interested in Wiggins."
"At the beginning of the offseason, the outside world believes that the Lakers are unwilling to take over a multi-year contract to prepare for the 2027 team space. But as Doncic's future is determined, the Lakers' position has loosened. I don't think that means they will make a deal with anyone by the February 5 NBA trade deadline," Stein wrote.
